Sustainability is integral to campus culture at UNO. Seven years ago, campus representatives came together to map out a campus-wide Sustainability Master Plan.

This year, UNO leaders are preparing to update this plan and, as part of that effort, want to understand what sustainability means to you by taking the 2021 Campus Sustainability Engagement Survey.

Take the Survey

Below is a message from UNO Sustainability Coordinator Kristina Hughes on Thursday, April 15, about the importance of this effort and how you can help

Mavericks,

Earth Day is just a week away, April 22, and there is no better time to reflect on our own personal commitments to living a more sustainable life.

As a member of the UNO community, you each have a vital role to play in inspiring, educating, and engaging people to serve as life-long stewards of our communities by conserving energy, water, and materials; protecting air, water, and habitat quality; and preventing waste and pollution, not just for the UNO community today, but for future generations of Mavericks. As an institution, we have affirmed UNO’s commitment to this important work in the UNO Sustainability Master Plan, developed in 2014.

One of the most important ways to achieve our sustainability goals is through engagement in sustainable practices. Over the years, we have improved our environmental footprint and impact through everything from waste management programs (reduction, reuse, and recycling); energy efficiency and emissions reduction; and water conservation practices, just to name a few of the many efforts being led and supported by each of you.

Every few years, since 2014, we conduct a survey to understand your awareness of, and identify your participation in, UNO’s sustainability efforts. This allows us to track our improvement and progress over time; our last survey taking place in 2019.

Please take the time to complete this year’s Sustainability Engagement Survey to help us better understand how to continue to advance sustainability initiatives at UNO.

Please click here to take the survey by April 30.

The survey will take 8-10 minutes to complete and information can be submitted anonymously. Upon completion, those willing to share some identifying information can enter to win a $25 gift card to Greenbelly in Aksarben.

Thank you all again for your commitment to sustaining our community.

Sincerely,

Kristina Hughes

UNO Sustainability Coordinator
