Senior Passport Program

The Senior Passport Program provides an opportunity for Nebraskans, aged 65 and over, who are dedicated to lifelong learning. Participants can join currently enrolled UNO students in our classrooms in the pursuit of knowledge and for the enjoyment of being in a vibrant campus setting.

Senior learners are invited to attend and "sit in" on undergraduate in-person courses on a space-available basis and with the instructor's written permission. This is pure learning with no required homework, tests, or grades.

Please note: Senior Passport Learners do not have access to campus technology or online course materials.

Passport learners may attend up to two classes per semester for a once-per-year, non-refundable $25 fee. Your year begins at the time your first class is attended.

Senior Passport Program Guidelines

  • Citizens 65 years of age and over are eligible.
  • Non-refundable fee is $25 per year and covers a maximum of 2 courses per semester (Spring and Fall).
  • Limited to undergraduate, in-person classes on a space-available basis.
  • Instructor written permission is required for all courses.
  • Not eligible to receive any UNO services including Canvas access.
    • Participants who would like to have access to campus technology, including Canvas, and other digital tools or services that may be used in the course that requires a user to log in, are invited to enroll or audit courses.
  • Senior Passport Program participants do not turn in assignments or take tests.
  • Active participation is at the discretion of the instructor, and the instructor may terminate the participation of a learner for any reason.
  • Senior Passport learners are expected to adhere to the UNO Student Code of Conduct.

Connecting Lifelong Learners to the Classroom

Meet Betty, Gene, and Kathy — three Passport students taking courses within the College of Arts and Sciences.

The trio share the same core curiosity that keeps them engaged in the Passport program.

As they gather among their peers in their classrooms across campus, the interactions they share with undergraduate students appear like any other between two classmates.
