Event Planning
Calendar of Events
A chapter officer must submit their chapter’s calendar of major events for the year no later than August 1st. This calendar is submitted to the respective council president for review and to potentially identify any conflicts. See “Calendar Policy” for more details.
A chapter officer needs to complete a Engage event request form for each chapter nonspecific event prior to the first day of classes each semester. Each chapter can create an event by clicking "Events" in their portal and filling out the event request form. This form requires specific details before submission (e.g., event photo, date/time/location, and a description of the event), however it can be edited later if needed.
Any forms associated with the event request form are expected to be completed at this time as well (e.g., pre-philanthropy form, upload alcohol forms, and room request form.) The post philanthropy form is due no later than one week after the event.
Note: If events are not properly registered, advertising related to the event (fliers, banners, Engage promotions, etc.) will not be permitted.
Rooms reservations will also be cancelled for events that have not been properly registered and approved. Only officers listed in your chapter’s Engage program may make reservations for space on campus. Please use the Engage Reservation Form to reserve these spaces. You can also reference the Student Activities Resource and Policy Guide page for more specific details about event planning.
Signature Events
No events will be approved by the FSL office during Durango Days, Homecoming Week, Greek Week, prep or finals week each semester. If an event is held during any of these weeks, sanctions will occur.
Homecoming
Chapters are expected to encourage participation throughout the Homecoming celebration. Events outside those planned by the Homecoming Committee and the Office of Student Involvement are not allowed.
University Branding
Whether your chapter wants to create advertisements for an event or just for chapter benefit, keep in mind that all materials featuring the UNO logo must be properly branded and approved. Examples of materials include: chapter t-shirts, flyers, pamphlets, and recruitment handouts. Please reference the UNO Brand Guide for various tools and resources regarding branding.
Remember to use the five core elements for all UNO publications and communications, printed or electronic:
-
University Logo (NetID required)
-
Campus Icon (NetID required)
-
URW Grotesk Typeface (Contact Raechel Meyer)
-
All materials should be written consistently, use the UNO Writing Style Guide for help.
Note: Easy-to-use design templates are also available to assist you with your advertising. (NetID required)
