The University of Nebraska has a new Export Control Director, Sam Padilla. Sam is helping all NU campuses maintain compliance with export control regulations. “Export control” includes laws that regulate the transfer of controlled information outside the United States or to foreign persons in the United States. In recent years, attention to compliance with export control regulations has increased because of heightened security concerns, and leaks of U.S. technology to economic competitors.
In addition to his other export control responsibilities, Sam is helping UNO remain compliant with international shipping requirements. Along those lines, international shipments should be accompanied by a Request for Export Controls Review Application. Including a completed form with the international package will help prevent unnecessary delays for the shipment.
In addition to Sam Padilla, UNO’s Research Compliance Officer, Brenda Kolobara is available to meet with your department to review this procedure. For export control and international shipping questions, please contact Sam Padilla at email@example.com or Brenda Kolobara at firstname.lastname@example.org.
