A UNO professor has recently been recognized by her peers for three decades of scholarly contributions to the field of industrial-organizational psychology.
Roni Reiter-Palmon, a professor in UNO’s Department of Psychology, was selected by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) as one of its newest SIOP Fellows.
Reiter-Palmon is the first psychology professor in UNO’s history to be recognized as a SIOP Fellow.
“This is truly a significant and important achievement that I am humbled to have received from this group, who are the pre-eminent researchers and practitioners in our field,” she says. “I have the pleasure of working with some outstanding colleagues across a variety of areas as well as with students, which have all contributed to my success.”
To achieve a SIOP Fellowship, a member must be nominated by another Fellow and provide supporting documentation, including a fellowship statement, to be recognized. Reiter-Palmon will formally be inducted as a SIOP Fellow at the organization’s annual conference in April.
SIOP, which is a division of the American Psychological Association, has history dating back to the late 1800s, but has officially been recognized since 1938. Fewer than 5 percent of SIOP members are SIOP Fellows.
Reiter-Palmon joined the UNO faculty in 1993 and, in her time at UNO, has served on numerous committees and provided consultations to companies, non-profit organizations and government agencies. Reiter-Palmon is also the author or co-author of more than 100 scholarly articles, is a member of UNO’s Center for Collaboration Science and won the 2017 University of Nebraska Outstanding Research and Creative Activity Award.
Industrial-Organizational Psychology is one of three concentrations within UNO’s Department of Psychology, which features degrees at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
