Humanities and Fine Arts

The Humanities and Fine Arts can provide a human context for important issues ranging from racism to poverty, to inequality. Critically exploring these human realities will help develop skills important for anyone interested in culture, social justice, and ethnicity: empathy, a capacity for logical thinking, tolerance for ambiguity, and a greater ability to work productively with others. Studies have shown, for example, that healthcare professionals who devote more time to humanities bolster qualities that improve their bedside manner.
