UNO's Office of Financial Support and Scholarships awards several hundred additional scholarships not listed here to first-year and returning students.

Regent's Scholarship

Regent's Scholarships are offered to residents of Nebraska that are graduating seniors of Nebraska high schools. Applicants with a minimum ACT composite of 30 and either a rank in the top 25% of their graduating class (6th or 7th semester) OR a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher will qualify for the award.

The Regent's Scholarship covers undergraduate resident tuition for full-time students and is renewable with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. The award is renewable for up to four total years or until 120 attempted credit hours is reached (not including hours earned through dual enrollment or AP classes) or a bachelor's degree is earned.

To apply, submit (1) an Application for Admission by February 1st and (2) ACT/SAT scores through the February test date during senior year.

Chancellor's Scholarship

Beginning with new applicants for Fall 2021, the Chancellor's Scholarship awards $4,000 per academic year to residents of Nebraska who are graduating seniors of Nebraska high schools. Applicants must have a minimum ACT score (or SAT equivalent) of 28-29 and either rank in the top 25% of their class OR have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years if the student maintains full-time enrollment and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

To apply, submit (1) an Application for Admission by February 1st and (2) ACT/SAT scores through the February test date during senior year.

Dean's Scholarship

Beginning with the Fall 2021 semester, the Dean's Scholarship awards $3,000 per academic year to residents of Nebraska who are graduating seniors of Nebraska high schools. Applicants must have a minimum ACT score (or SAT equivalent) of 26-27 and either rank in the top 25% of their class OR have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years if the student maintains full-time enrollment and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

To apply, submit (1) an Application for Admission by February 1st and (2) ACT/SAT scores through the February test date during senior year.

Faculty Scholarship

The Faculty Scholarship awards $1,000 per academic year to residents of Nebraska who are graduating seniors of Nebraska high schools. Applicants must have a minimum ACT score (or SAT equivalent) of 23-25 and either rank in the top 25% of their class OR have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years if the student maintains full-time enrollment and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

To apply, submit (1) an Application for Admission by February 1st and (2) ACT/SAT scores through the February test date during senior year.

Maverick Scholarship

The Maverick Scholarship is a tiered scholarship with various amounts to residents of Nebraska who are graduating seniors of Nebraska high schools. Applicants must have a minimum ACT score (or SAT equivalent) of 23 or above and have a cumulative GPA of 3.25–3.49. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years if the student maintains full-time enrollment and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Maverick Scholarship – tiered scholarship

  • ACT 23-25, GPA 3.25-3.49, $1,000 per year
  • ACT 26-27, GPA 3.25-3.49, $1,500 per year
  • ACT 28-29, GPA 3.25-3.49, $2,500 per year
  • ACT 30-36, GPA 3.25-3.49, $5,500 per year

To apply, submit (1) an Application for Admission by February 1st and (2) ACT/SAT scores through the February test date during senior year.

Nebraska Career Scholarship

Following approval by the Nebraska State Legislature in August 2020, funding was made available to UNO to support a limited number of competitive awards to first-year and transfer Nebraska Resident students interested in pursuing programs of study leading to careers in high-demand fields related to mathematics, engineering, healthcare, and computer information systems.

Current eligible programs at UNO include Behavioral Health, Biology, Biomechanics, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Emergency Management, Gerontology, IT Innovation, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Medical Humanities, Molecular and Biomedical Biology, Neuroscience, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physics, Public Health, Psychology, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Pre-Agricultural Engineering, Pre-Biological Systems Engineering and Pre-Mechanical Engineering.

Maximum award amounts for eligible students are:

  • $13,000 per year for new first-year students
  • $10,000 per year for transfer students

The Nebraska Career Scholarship is renewable for up to three years, or awarding of a bachelor’s degree, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon continued funding from the state of Nebraska, and students must satisfy requirements related to program, hours, GPA, and experiential learning. Distinguished Scholarship

The University annually awards five Distinguished Scholarships. These scholarships have a total estimated value over a four-year period of $31,000 to $33,000. All five are awarded through the UNO Distinguished Scholarship application process. Academically talented high school seniors are invited to apply to the University Honors Program in order to be considered for these top awards. Up to ten additional scholarships are awarded to the top alternates.

To apply, submit (1) an Application for Admission by February 1st, (2) ACT/SAT scores through the February test date during senior year, (3) complete the General Scholarship Application prior to February 1st, and (4) complete the University Honors Program Application. Only eligible students will be able to access the Distinguished Scholarship Application (prior to February 1st). All applications are available at: https://unomaha.academicworks.com/.

Urban Health Opportunities Program (UHOP)

The Urban Health Opportunities Program (UHOP) is designed to diversify the urban Nebraska medical workforce by identifying and preparing qualified students from underrepresented groups to enter and succeed in medical school. Considered applicants are high school seniors who have a minimum ACT cumulative and math section score of 24, and are Nebraska residents. Selected UHOP scholars will include those considered underrepresented by the Association of American Medical Colleges. UHOP scholars receive full tuition remission at UNO, and receive guaranteed admission to UNMC's M.D. program with the completion of UHOP requirements.

Nebraska Legacy Scholarships

The Nebraska Legacy Scholarship provides the differential between in-state and out-of-state tuition to first-year students who are children of University of Nebraska graduates that are not residents of Nebraska. Students eligible for review must rank in the upper one-third of their graduating class or have a minimum ACT composite of 24 or higher (or equivalent on the SAT). The scholarship is renewable for up to four years.

UNO Advantage Scholarship

The University of Nebraska Omaha offers scholarships for an amount up to the difference between resident and non-resident tuition to selected new undergraduate students who are not residents of Nebraska. These scholarships are competitively awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Young Scholars Program

The Young Scholars Program began at UNO in 2011 and provides a full scholarship to selected students. Students in the Young Scholars Program participate in a variety of activities such as weekly study sessions, various social and academic events, and service projects throughout the school year. Young Scholars have a support system at UNO that includes an Academic Mentor with whom they meet periodically throughout the year.

UNO Alumni Association Scholarship

The UNO Alumni Association Scholarship awards $2,500 per year scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership and involvement during high school. The scholarship may be renewed for up to four years total if a cumulative GPA of 3.0 is maintained. To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • be a graduating high school senior,
  • have a minimum ACT composite score of 24, and
  • either rank in the top 25% of your class OR have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).

To apply, complete the UNO Scholarship application in MavLINK. If you meet the minimum qualifications you will be given access to complete the application.

Gerbracht Scholarship

A scholarship fund has been established in memory of long-time University of Nebraska Omaha employee William Gerbracht. Upon his death in June 1991, Gerbracht bequeathed a portion of his estate to establish an academic scholarship fund at UNO which is awarded to a first-year student who is the child of a full-time UNO faculty or staff member. The full tuition scholarship is awarded on academic promise, and is renewable if the student maintains an acceptable GPA.

To apply, complete the UNO Scholarship application in MavLINK by March 1st of your senior year. The application process will require you to upload a letter from your parent verifying they are a UNO faculty or staff member.

G. Robert Muchemore UNO Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded competitively to outstanding first-year students who are graduates of Nebraska high schools that demonstrate financial need. Typically these are awarded to applicants with above average ACT/SAT scores that rank in the top 10% of their high school class.

The scholarship is worth up to $6,000 per year. This scholarship may be renewed for an additional three years if the recipient continues to demonstrate financial need, and maintains full-time enrollment with a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA.

To apply, complete the UNO Scholarship application in MavLINK by March 1st and file a FAFSA form by the June 1st priority deadline.

Scott Scholars (Walter Scott, Jr. Scholarship)

The Walter Scott, Jr. Scholarship Program (Scott Scholars) provides complete funding for an undergraduate college experience including tuition, room and board, and whole-person learning opportunities. Eligible areas of study include majors within the UNL College of Engineering, UNO College of Information Science and Technology, and other STEM related programs.

EducationQuest Foundation

This program funds scholarships for students with significant financial need. Recipients must never have defaulted on a student loan or currently owe a repayment on a grant.

Applicants are considered for this award by applying for admission to UNO by February 1st and file a FAFSA form.

The Goodrich Scholarship Program

The Goodrich Scholarship Program intends to provide a college education for persons who otherwise could not afford it while offering them a broad and meaningful experience in general education. The program has a three-pronged approach. It provides:

  • financial aid in the form of tuition and fees toward a bachelor's degree,
  • a specialized curriculum emphasizing the humanities and the social sciences, and
  • a comprehensive program of academic support, counseling and other related student services.

Phillip Schrager Scholarship Program for Student Leaders

The Phillip Schrager Scholarship Program for Student Leaders recognizes students who possess outstanding leadership capability. Selection is based primarily on a student's involvement in high school activities and organizations. Documented financial need is required and scholastic achievement is an important qualification. The scholarship is valued at up to $15,000 per year. Preference is given to students from the Omaha metropolitan area.

The Davis Chambers Scholarship and the Davis Chambers Community College Transfer Scholarship recognize academically promising students who have knowledge and experience in a diverse environment or community. More information available here.

Isaacson Incentive Scholarship

This program recognizes students who have experience with diversity and are permanent residents of Omaha. Scholarship awards are worth $1,000 each. To qualify for consideration, students must have earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA in high school, from UNO, or the college from which they are transferring. Each scholarship is renewable for up to three years based on continued academic success. More information available here.

Paul Beck Scholarships

Paul L. Beck, a long-time member of the History Department, urged faculty and staff to go beyond the classroom to assist capable students in their educational pursuits at UNO. Inspired by his call to action, the Faculty Senate of the University of Nebraska Omaha has sponsored scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 for meritorious students since 1970. UNO Women's Club Scholarships

The UNO Women's Club offers at least eight merit-based, partial scholarships for full-time and part-time, undergraduate and graduate students. Applications are due before May 31 each year, and awards are distributed during the subsequent fall and spring semesters.
