This spring, the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) launched a new faculty wellness coaching pilot program. The pilot program will continue through the 2023-24 school year and offer individualized support for current full-time faculty. Faculty wellness coaching is now available.
Who Might Consider Coaching?

Possible Topics for Early-Career Faculty- Acclimating to a new role, UNO, or Omaha
- Understanding imposter syndrome
- Managing personal and professional demands
- Establishing boundaries and self-care practices
- Connecting & networking socially or professionally
- (Re)Setting goals post tenure/promotion
- Considering leadership and ways to lead
- Developing professional advocacy skills
- Maintaining boundaries to enhance personal wellness
- Addressing professional or personal frustration
- Changing daily habits and behaviors
- Identifying and responding to burnout
- Dealing with difficult work and home situations
- Coping with situational stress and anxiety
- Assessing need for added resources and support
How to Access Coaching Services

Quick Coaching
Focus: Answer questions, assess need for full session
- 15 minutes
- Zoom drop-in sessions*
- Tuesdays: 9 to 11 A.M.
- Wednesdays: Noon to 2 P.M.
Full Coaching Session
Focus: Set goal(s), Identify options/strategies
- 45-60 minutes
- Zoom or in-person
- By appointment*
- 5 sessions/semester
About the Pilot Program
According to Connie Schaffer, Ph.D., CFE Director, faculty wellness coaching is designed to address the unique demands – both personal and professional – that are associated with being a university faculty member. It is intended to supplement existing resources for faculty such as the services offered through the Employee Assistance Program. The service is free and confidential.
