Students in the UNO College of Business Administration School of Accounting have been selected as the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), Scholars. The PCAOB is a nonprofit corporation established by Congress to oversee the audits of public companies in order to protect investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, accurate, and independent audit reports.
Deliver Aung ‘27 of Omaha, NE, and Liam Jost ‘27 of La Vista, NE were named PCAOB Scholars for the 2026-2027 academic year. The PCAOB Program is mandated by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and benefits outstanding students who are likely to become accountants and auditors.
“We are grateful to the PCAOB for its ongoing investment in the future of the accounting profession and for recognizing exceptional students through this prestigious scholarship program. We are extremely proud of Deliver Aung and Liam Jost for earning this distinguished honor. Their dedication, academic excellence, and commitment to the accounting profession exemplify the high standards of our program, and they are very deserving of this recognition,” said Dr. Roopa Venkatesh, CMA, Director of the School of Accounting at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
“I’m deeply honored to receive this PCAOB scholarship and am incredibly grateful to Dr. Venkatesh and the PCAOB program for their support throughout this process. This award gives me financial freedom to focus on my goals, and I’m so thankful to the UNO School of Accounting faculty for creating such a rewarding learning experience,” Aung said.
"I am extremely grateful to Dr. Venkatesh, UNO, and the PCOAB for considering and electing me for the scholarship. Receiving this scholarship allows me to focus on my Master's and my internships without the added stress of worrying about loans and loan repayment. This scholarship will help me become the CPA I want to become," Jost said.
Since 2011, the PCAOB has awarded this merit-based award to select students who demonstrate excellence in an accounting degree program, uphold high ethical standards, and are nominated by a professor. For more information about the PCAOB scholarship, visit pcaobus.org.
