UNO’s College of Business Administration is celebrating a golden achievement.
Beta Alpha Psi’s Gamma Kappa chapter at the University of Nebraska at Omaha has been named a Gold Chapter for the 2024–2025 academic year — an international distinction that the chapter has maintained consistently each year. The honor was presented at the 2025 Beta Alpha Psi Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
Gold status is a recognition that signals professional development, service, and academic engagement. UNO’s chapter not only met but exceeded national benchmarks set by Beta Alpha Psi — demonstrating what’s possible when students lead with purpose.
- Gold Chapter status is awarded to chapters that go above and beyond baseline requirements.
- Faculty advisor Xiaoyan Cheng, Ph.D., and a dedicated student leadership team lead the Gamma Kappa chapter.
- This recognition reflects a strong commitment to service, scholarship, and career readiness.
“This recognition speaks volumes about the dedication and excellence of your department. The Gamma Kappa chapter has far exceeded expectations in academics, professionalism, and leadership,” said Dr. Raymond Elson, CPA/CITP, CGMA, 2025-2026 President, Beta Alpha Psi.
Each year, the chapter hosts events like Meet the Firms, an initiation ceremony, an alumni event, power dinners, impact meetings, and social events. A major commitment of BAP members is participation in mandatory service projects. Their community volunteer events this semester include the Open Door Mission, Siena Francis House, Accounting Review Sessions, and a Panel Discussion at the UNO Accounting AdventuresTM Summer camp and Mini-Camp, where members and candidates had the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the community.
“This recognition highlights the hard work and integrity of our students and faculty,” said CBA Interim Dean Dr. Steve Schulz. “It’s a testament to the collaborative spirit, academic excellence, and community engagement that define UNO.”
“The UNO, Gamma Kappa Chapter, under the outstanding leadership of Dr. Cheng has created a very welcoming, supportive, and resourceful community for not only accounting students, but all our College of Business Administration (CBA) students. Our Chapter officers and members are role model representatives of our CBA, accounting students,” said Dr. Roopa Venkatesh, Director of the UNO School of Accounting.
“I’m incredibly proud of our members. Their dedication to scholarship, professionalism, and community impact is exactly what Beta Alpha Psi stands for. Thank you to the School of Accounting faculty, alumni, employer partners, and the UNO community for fueling their success.” - Dr. Xiaoyan Cheng, Faculty Advisor, Beta Alpha Psi – Gamma Kappa Chapter
UNO’s Gamma Kappa chapter will continue its momentum into the 2025–2026 academic year with new initiatives, community partnerships, and professional development opportunities for business students.
