“I am proud of the hard work and dedication our student-athletes have put in to achieve such outstanding results in the classroom,” said Trev Alberts, UNO’s Director of Athletics. “Given the demands of travel and competition placed on our student-athletes, their academic success is that much more impressive. With the opening of the Brian and Carey Hamilton Academic Excellence Room this January, we are excited to be able to offer our student-athletes a more conducive learning environment and hope they can continue to garner academic accolades.”
Ninety-one UNO student-athletes made the Dean’s List, achieving a 3.50 GPA or better, while another 32 were named to the Chancellor’s List, signifying a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. In all, 48.0 percent (123 of 256 student-athletes) were named to an honorary list. UNO’s student-athletes boast an impressive combined cumulative GPA of 3.35 through all semesters completed.
The volleyball team led all 15 teams with a fall GPA of 3.77 while women’s golf came in second with a 3.70 GPA. Volleyball also placed a school-best 79 percent of its student-athletes on the Dean’s and Chancellor’s Lists. Men’s tennis posted the best men’s team GPA at 3.37, placing 62 percent of its roster on the Dean’s and Chancellor’s Lists. Men’s golf ranked second among men’s teams with a 3.29 GPA.
The women’s soccer team had six team members achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA while the volleyball team had five, women’s golf and softball each had four, and track and field/cross country had three.
