What happens next?
- Once you submit your form, UNO's Volunteer and Civic Engagement Coordinator will reach out to you.
- Volunteer requests are promoted in different ways at UNO including more than 50 UNO students who are currently enrolled in the UNO Community Engaged Scholars Transcript Designation (CESTD).
- Internship needs will be sent to key campus contacts in the Academic and Career Development Center (ACDC) to be shared with UNO students involved in ACDC.

Partnership 4 Kids: Volunteers Needed
Two types of opportunities are available with P4K including the following:
Mock Interviews – 2/22, 2/27 or 2/28 – You will assist our 10th grade students in putting their interview skills to the test! Students will do short 10-15 minute interviews with you where you will then score and provide feedback to the student on how they did!
Career Panels 2/1, 2/2, 2/7 – Share you career pathway, insight, and advice to students in our 9th grade groups!

BlueCross Blueshield: Community Engagement Intern
The Bluecross Blueshield team is looking for a new community engagement intern. Working with Team Blue is a position that can help you find purpose, opportunities, and support you'll need to build a meaningful career and make a powerful impact in our community.
The intern works on-site at our Omaha, Nebraska office and also have the option for a hybrid schedule. They will work closely with team members to support BCBSNE’s efforts in the community, including sponsorships and employee volunteerism
What you'll do:
- Support BCBSNE’s efforts in the community, including sponsorships and employee volunteerism
- Work closely with the Director of DEI to coordinate programs and projects
- Track the impact of BCBSNE’s community efforts (volunteer hours, matching gifts, donations, etc.)
- Provide high-level administrative support to community engagement and DEI activities

Midlands African Chamber: Membership Intern
The Midlands African Chamber seeks a membership intern. The role is critical for the organization’s growth and evolving recruitment and retention campaign strategy. The intern will help the chamber grow in membership and offer relevant programs.
The successful candidate will need to build strong relationships with key members of the Chamber team. Building and maintaining a strong working relationship with the National Staff and the Membership Team, in particular, will be critical to the candidate’s success in this role.
The position requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to deal with unexpected challenges, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (spoken and written). Candidates need to possess a passion for the success of others and are willing to contribute to other’s successes. Being a critical thinker, collaborative teammate and member advocate while producing clear results are very important competencies to hold in this role.

Siena Francis House: Volunteers Needed
At Siena Francis House, volunteers make a tremendous difference on a daily basis. The Siena Francis House is always looking for new volunteers to serve its thousands of individuals experiencing homelessness. They offer a variety of meaningful volunteer options including examples such as serving meals in their dining room, assisting in meal preparation in the kitchen, help physical donations at their loading dock and pantry.
Opportunities are available to anyone who is looking for a one-time volunteer experience, or those who are interested in a more regular/ongoing volunteer commitment.

NWIHCS Veterans Affairs: Volunteers Needed
The Nebraska-Western Iowa Veterans Healthcare System provides medical care and treatment to over 56,000 area veterans. They are in need of volunteers for a variety of positions such as grounds keeping, escorting patients in wheelchairs, providing information at our info desks, calling veterans in our Compassionate Contact Corps program, and more.
They are excited to tailor volunteer experiences to fit individual skills and schedules to help give back to those who gave so much.

Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska: Volunteers Needed
The Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska is looking for enthusiast and creative individuals to assist as volunteers to lead troop meetings for girls aged 5 to 17. Volunteers will lead troup meetings at at low-income schools around Omaha. All supplies and lesson plans will be provided.
Volunteers must be able to pass a background check and complete a training before beginning.

Financial Beginnings: K-12 Teacher Volunteers Needed
Financial Beginnings is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that teaches individuals how to play an active role in their financial well-being. Developing this knowledge increases available life opportunities such as home ownership, higher education, and secure retirement.
Financial Beginnings provides personal finance education via affiliate organizations, which combined reach more than 200 K-12 schools and colleges and more than 100 community-based organizations annually. Programs serve all groups, but focus on populations most in need.
Financial Beginnings is always looking for volunteers to teach K-12 students the basics of finances, with orientations and trainings to support volunteers.

AseraCare Hospice: Companion Volunteers
AseraCare Hospice is seeking volunteers to provide companionship and socialization to individuals receiving hospice services and their families. Companion volunteers may engage in conversation, assist with a favorite activity, or provide a calm presence for the patient or caregiver.
Volunteers will be asked to complete a background screening and training for the position prior to visiting patients, as well as require a Covid-19 vaccine or qualify for a medical or religious exemption. A minimum of 5 hours per month is encouraged. Interested volunteers should get in touch with the contact provided below.

Calistus Multiple Myeloma Foundation: Volunteers Needed
The Calistus Multiple Myeloma Foundation is seeking volunteers to help with public relations, organizing activities, marketing (print and digital), social media, and more. Volunteers serve the families and patients (and their dependents) throughout the winter season through coat drives and other support.
