Biography

Ashley Varilek is an Instructor of Management with over 10 years of leadership experience in marketing and sales operations. Following her MBA from the University of Denver, she worked for a nationwide alternative entertainment company. Upon returning to Omaha, Ashley pursued more digital marketing roles at Yahoo and travel marketing company, Sojern. She has held roles ranging from team contributor to team leader, consistently driving success through strategic project management and innovative problem-solving. Before joining the faculty, Ashley led high-impact teams in dynamic business environments, focusing on achieving results and fostering collaboration. She is dedicated to teaching and mentoring students, drawing on her extensive industry experience to provide practical insights and foster their professional growth. In her free time, Ashley is an assistant soccer coach and full-time cheerleader to her three children, enjoys reading, traveling and spending time outdoors with her husband and 2 dogs.

Service Summary

Professor Varilek is a supporting faculty member involved in developing and managing the Capstone Cup. Professor Varilek is also a chairperson for the Management and Leadership Advisory Board.

Capstone Cup, Committee Member, A distinct advantage of undergraduate Capstone Cup (CC) is that it benefits multiple stakeholders including: all CBA students, local businesses, and the university. Employers benefit by being able to identify up-and-coming graduates for potential employment and the University benefits by showcasing the skills and abilities of its students. The Capstone Cup also enhances the exposure of Mammel Hall as a burgeoning community hub. The event occurs every Fall and Spring semester and requires a substantial amount of time and effort to be successful. The event consists of 2 rounds of competition, spanning two days following weeks of strategy and ​collaborative problem solving., 08/01/2024 - 08/31/2024
