Brian Petranick
- MBA 2006
- CEO, Medi-Weightloss
Additional Information
Inducted 2026
Brian was born in Rome, NY, but moved to Omaha at a young age when his father was transferred to Offutt Air Force Base. Growing up, he was highly active in sports and other activities, but one of his defining traits was an innate entrepreneurial spirit. Even at a young age, Brian was always seeking opportunities to make money and constantly dreaming about the businesses he would one day create. It was clear early on; Brian had a vision for a life in business and entrepreneurship.
That childhood ambition translated into a 40-year career in business, centered around healthcare, franchising, intrapreneurship, and entrepreneurship. Rather than just managing companies, Brian has dedicated his professional life to building companies and nurturing the people within them. He started his first formal business at the age of 19, which he grew and sold a few years later. His next two roles were with larger companies, where Brian first experienced corporate intrapreneurship. In both roles, Brian worked on small, highly independent teams responsible for creating and launching four-wall business models into markets across the U.S. These experiences culminated in 2000, when Brian returned to his entrepreneurial roots and partnered with a local business owner who wanted his small business to expand outside of Omaha. That company, Right at Home, grew from that single location in Omaha to a global brand with over 850 locations on five continents. After stepping away as the organization’s CEO in 2022, Brian joined Neighborly as a Group President. There, he led seven franchise systems and corporate-owned businesses, totaling $2.4B in revenue and 2,100 operating locations.
Today, Brian brings that same passion to his role as CEO of Medi-Weightloss. He joined the organization in February 2025 and is leading its strategic evolution into delivering a broader, health optimized wellness offering to its patients through a rapidly growing network of clinics across the U.S. Throughout his career, his focus has never been solely on scale, but on creating customer-first, mission-driven organizations that deliver services with social significance and meaningful outcomes for all constituents.
A lifelong learner, Brian has always believed in the power of education and mentorship. After earning his MBA from the UNO in 2006, he served as an adjunct faculty member at CBA for eight years. His dedication to his students earned him the Distinguished Adjunct Professor Award in 2010. Brian’s commitment to education continues today as he pursues a PhD in Organizational Leadership from Concordia University Chicago. He hopes to return to an adjunct faculty role at UNO in the near future.
