Frequently Asked Questions

What are Dining Dollars?

Dining Dollars are prepaid funds loaded onto a MavCARD that can be used to purchase food and drinks at dining locations on both Dodge and Scott Campuses. They provide a convenient and flexible way to pay for meals, snacks, and beverages across campus.

Who receives Dining Dollars automatically?

Housing & Non-Housing Students

All UNO students enrolled in at least one (1) credit hour are automatically enrolled each semester with $50 Dining Dollars. Students living in university housing are enrolled in $200 per semester, which includes the $50 base amount plus $150 in additional Dining Dollars. Additional plans may be added during the enrollment period.

Faculty & Staff

Faculty and staff enrolled in at least one (1) credit hour through the university’s Employee Scholarship Program are automatically enrolled each semester with $50 Dining Dollars. Additional plans may be added during the enrollment period.

How are Dining Dollars different from a meal plan?

Scott Dining Meal Plans

Scott Dining Meal Plans are all-inclusive plans available through Scott Dining on the Scott Campus. They provide a set or unlimited number of meals at the dining hall for all-you-care-to-eat dining.

Dining Dollars

Dining Dollars are a prepaid declining balance that can be used at coffee shops, convenience stores, and other dining locations on both Dodge and Scott Campuses. They provide flexible spending beyond a traditional meal plan and are managed by the Milo Bail Student Center Business Office in partnership with Housing.

What is the difference between Dining Dollars and MavMONEY?

Dining Dollars

Dining Dollars are a prepaid declining balance that can be used at coffee shops, convenience stores, and other dining locations on both Dodge and Scott Campuses. Unused funds roll over from Fall to Spring but expire at the end of the Spring semester. Purchases made with Dining Dollars are tax free.

MavMONEY

MavMONEY is a prepaid declining balance that can be used at dining locations, vending machines, The Maverick Store, WEPA printing stations, and other approved campus locations. Funds can be added at any time with no minimum required, and balances do not expire while enrolled at UNO. Purchases made with MavMONEY are taxed.
