Representing UNO Abroad
Anywhere your travels take you, you are a representative of UNO. As such, you are always subject to the UNO Student Code of Conduct.
Foreign visitors are subject to the laws of the country they are in. These laws can vary widely between countries, and some can be rather unexpected (for example, it is illegal to bring a durian fruit onto the subway in Singapore). Do your research so that you can be sensitive to local customs and views and adhere to all laws.
Drug use is absolutely impermissible. If you can legally drink alcohol in your host country and choose to do so, please note that alcohol consumption can increase the likelihood of behaviors that will have negative consequences.
Violating the UNO Student Code of Conduct, your program’s rules, and local laws can result in disciplinary action, the termination of your program, and possibly incarceration. If you have been arrested or are facing legal charges of any kind, contact the nearest embassy for assistance. Please notify the Education Abroad Office if an incident has occurred.
