Get Involved with UNO Education Abroad

Study abroad alumni play a very important role in our mission. If you’re interested in getting involved with Education Abroad, take a look at a few of the possibilities below. We’d love to have you join us!

Share Your Photos, Videos, and Perspectives

While we could use random photos off the internet to promote our programs, we would much rather use the real, day to day photos and videos taken by UNO students! Please send your media to unostudyabroad@unomaha.edu. We also love having our alumni volunteer at the Study Abroad Fair, pre-departure orientation, and other events throughout the year to share their experiences. Keep an eye out for emails from the office inviting you to participate, or feel free to proactively reach out and let us know you're interested in helping.

Work with Us

We rely on our student workers, federal work study, and interns to help us keep our office running. If you are interested in being a Peer Advisor, giving classroom presentations, or assisting with other aspects of Education Abroad, please contact us to learn about current opportunities.

Donate to Help Support Future Mavericks

Finances is still the number one reason students give for not studying abroad. As a study abroad alumni, you know that study abroad is possible, but finding the funding needed was a big part of your success. If you'd like to help other students at UNO fulfill their dreams to study abroad, why not donate to grow one of our scholarship endowments? Every little bit helps! If you're in a position where you'd like to explore other financial ways you can support UNO Education Abroad, such as offering your own named or memorial scholarship or supporting a donation match or challenge during the annual Wear Black, Give Back day of fundraising, please reach out directly to Emily Krueger, Assistant Director of Global Learning: ekrueger@unomaha.edu.

Connect with International Programs at UNO

There are lots of ways to stay connected to the international community in Omaha through UNO, both as a student and after graduation! Keep an eye out for opportunities to work with the other International Programs units who need student workers to support their roles. This includes the International Advising team, International Recruitment team, and our Global Grants team that bring in folks for short-term programs. You can also apply for the Global Diplomats, a group of students who recieve a small scholarship to work with International Advising to support incoming international students. There are many clubs and student organizations at UNO for students with international interests. For our graduates, we look for community members to help support our grant programs by hosting scholars for dinner or participating in events like the Ambassadors Forum. If you're looking for ways to get involved, don't hesitate to reach out!

Highlight Your Study Abroad Experience at Graduation

Vision Wear is a company that makes graduation stoles featuring flags from around the world. Study abroad alumni can order a special graduation stole directly from Vision Wear's site to feature the flag(s) of the countries where they studied abroad during their degree at UNO.
