Global Courses

Group of college students pose together in Singapore with the city skyline behind them at night.

Global Courses are classes offered by UNO Education Abroad + UNO Academic Departments that give students opportunities for intensive international and domestic learning experiences.

Because Global Courses are UNO classes with study abroad components, you will pay most of your expenses to UNO through MavLINK. In addition to the tuition and fees for the UNO course, you will pay a $200 deposit when committing to the program and the remaining travel cost will appear on your bill for the relevant term. To learn more about what the travel cost for each Global Course includes, consult the program's info in the MavsAbroad Portal. Most Global Courses include a group flight, lodging, in-country transportation, a full itinerary of excursions and visits, the support of UNO and in-country leaders, medical and emergency insurance, and some meals.

Yes, UNO tuition scholarships will apply to any UNO tuition costs associated with a global course program. Federal Financial Aid can also be used towards Global Course programs.

Special Note: On average, one to two Global Courses focused on foreign language each year are set-up as a combination of UNO credit and transfer credit, where tuition at a host university abroad is included in the program's travel cost. UNO tuition scholarships will not apply to host university tuition costs, only to the UNO tuition. Usually, these programs feature a 3-credit UNO class and a 3-credit host university class. Federal Financial Aid can apply to both UNO and host university tuition.

Global courses are great for students who:

  • Want to study abroad for a shorter period of time
  • Feel more comfortable traveling with other UNO students and faculty/staff members
  • Are looking for in-depth information and experiential learning for certain topics
  • Have UNO scholarships and want to apply them to the cost of a program
  • Want to take their learning to a new level

Early applications are encouraged!
