Take control and know not only how your UNO Credits support your earlier graduation from UNO, but also how they may transfer to a particular program.
Advising Goals
- Inform students what UNO Courses are offered at their high school for dual credit
- Ensure that high school students enrolled in UNO Courses know how that credit may be utilized
- Communicate to high school students about the UNO pathways that may exist based on completed or anticipated UNO Courses during high school
- Assist in future enrollment of UNO Courses to earn college credit and graduate from college on time or earlier than originally anticipated
Value of Advising
Depending on the outlook of any one particular dual enrollment student, their willingness to understand how earned college credits impact them may vary. Whether a student decides to earn three (3) credits through UNO's Dual Enrollment Program or enroll in as many courses as they have access to can make a large difference.
One outcome we want to avoid if possible is to have students realize after the fact that the dual credit courses they enrolled in did not make a particular impact on their post-secondary education journey.
To clear as much uncertainty and concern throughout their dual enrollment experience, we hope that through a blending of guidance and advising that students in the UNO Dual Enrollment Program can make well-informed decisions. This blending may include support from the student's high school counselor, their curriculum specialist, course instructor, UNO Academic Department Faculty/Staff, and/or UNO Dual Enrollment Staff.
