Early arrivals are never guaranteed. Approval is based on availability of the assigned room and facility. Students approved for an early arrival may be subject to an early arrival fee for that facility. For more information, please contact the specific facility.

When will I know my room and roommate assignment?

You can expect to receive your room and roommate assignments in mid-July.

Can I request a room or a roommate?

Room and roommate requests are specific to each facility. More information about requesting roommates is included with contract/leasing information sent to assigned students. All room and roommate requests must match or we will be unable to grant your request.

Please keep in mind that while we try to honor your room and roommate requests, we cannot guarantee all requests.

When are my payments due?

Payments are specific to each housing facility. Please contact your assigned village for payment information.

Where do I get my mail and packages?

Some mailboxes are located in the buildings. For Maverick Village and University Village, mailboxes are located in the each of clubhouses on Dodge campus. For Scott Village, mailboxes are located in the Scott Village Res Life office on Scott campus. Information regarding mail and packages are provided to students when they move in.

Is my residence hall a non-smoking facility?

Yes. The entire UNO campus, including housing, is smoke and tobacco-free.

How do I access the internet in my room?

Housing & Residence Life provides the Internet. All you will need is a computer. Consult your move-in packet for more information.

What size is my bed?

Beds in the Scott Campus facilities are Twin XL, measuring 37″ by 80″.

Dodge Campus has Twin XL beds and mattresses. For help finding sheets to fit these mattresses, click here.

What should I bring?

Bring a backpack and school/desk items, laundry detergent and basket, toiletries and towels, bed linens and mattress pad, trash bin for your room and kitchen, tie trash bags to dispose of waste, desk lamp, living room lamp, alarm clock, kitchen cookware and dishes, and a bike lock if you choose to bring a bike.

Discuss with roommates who is bringing: TV, stereo, iron and ironing board, kitchenware and dishes, kitchen towels, cleaning supplies and shower curtain and hooks.

What should I NOT bring?

Don’t bring halogen lights, weapons or firearms, fireworks, candles, grills of any kind, large nails (we prefer pins or very small nails), waterbeds, pets (except fish, but no tanks over 10 gallons) or alcoholic beverages.

Do I need a UNO parking permit?

Yes, if you plan on bringing a car with you, you will need to purchase a parking permit online through Parking Services. Please be sure to select the correct permit. If you are living on Scott Campus, you must purchase the “Scott Resident Permit.” If you live on Dodge Campus you must select the “Mav-University Resident Permit."

Do I need Renter's Insurance?

We recommend that you get some type of renters insurance. UNO does not provide personal property insurance. Your family’s household insurance may cover your property while you live on-campus. Discuss this with your family’s insurance carrier or an independent insurance carrier. There is also GradGuard to purchase renters insurance through.

How do I get access to enter my building?

Your MavCARD will be activated during move-in to give you access to your building. All facilities use this method except University Village.

Can I remain on-campus during holidays/breaks?

Yes. Hours for common buildings will vary. You are not required to remain on-campus, but we do recommend you lock everything and safely store items before you leave.

Is it necessary to have a meal plan when living on-campus?

No. Meal plans are only required for Scott Hall and Scott Crossing Traditional Style. All other facilities have a full kitchen so residents can prepare their own meals. More information about meal plans can be found here.
