UPDATE: The new deadline is Aug. 28 at 11:59 P.M.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is proud to be offering an Equity and Inclusion Certificate for all full-time employees.

This will be a two-year (Fall and Spring) cohort experience that will allow participants to gain collegial trust, be vulnerable, and assist in each other’s growth. Additionally, the certificate is designed for participants to engage with on-going deep reflections, learning, and challenge their personal and professional knowledge towards actionable steps for more inclusive and equitable offices, departments, and the university.

The time commitment will be about four hours per month along with two cohort workshops every semester taking place the third Thursday of September, November, February and April from 3 - 5 P.M.

  • Sept. 17, 2020
  • Nov. 19, 2020
  • Feb. 18, 2021
  • April 15, 2021

The Equity and Inclusion Certificate will host the inaugural class in Fall 2020. The committee is looking for a cohort of about 20 employees that represents faculty, staff, and administration from all the colleges. If not selected for the Fall 2020 cohort, no new nomination or application needs to be submitted for two years and will be considered for the next cohort.

This certificate is supported by Associate Vice Chancellor of Diversity, Equity, Access, and Inclusion Cecil Hicks and Coordinator for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Faculty Candice Batton. Any employee selected should be given the appropriate time release to commit to this experience for the betterment of campus.

We encourage self-nominations/applications as well as nominations from colleagues. All nominations and applicants must fill out a short form for consideration.

Applications must be submitted by Aug. 28 at 11:59 P.M. to be considered for the inaugural class.
