UNO and Internal Compass (IC) students will coalesce at the Jewell Jazz Club in Omaha's Capitol District for a public performance on Sunday, April 30 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $15 and are available at jewellomaha.com. Students with a valid ID will receive a $5 discount. The event is sponsored by UNO’s Schwalb Center for Israel and Jewish Studies and the UNO School of Music. The performance will feature original compositions by UNO students and custom arrangements by UNO faculty designed to facilitate cross-cultural musical collaboration between UNO and IC students. UNO and IC faculty will join the students as featured guest artists.

The UNO Jazz Combo visited the IC Jazz School in Israel over the 2023 spring break. The tour included student and faculty performances with representatives from both schools performing independently and together. UNO faculty members Darren Pettit and Chris Leach presented masterclasses to IC students while UNO students had the opportunity to learn from IC’s world class jazz faculty. While in Israel, the UNO Jazz Combo also performed in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

UNO will reciprocate by hosting a contingent of IC students and faculty in Nebraska this spring. IC students and faculty will be touring Omaha from April 29-May 6. In addition to the Jewell performance, their visit will include several other engagements with UNO students, including a joint performance for the Omaha Jitterbugs swing dance club on Friday, May 5 from 9 PM-midnight. Tickets are $10 and available at the door. For more information see jitterbugs.org/events/jitterbugs-night-out.
