Omar Torres Fernández, Dean of International Business at Universidad Anáhuac Xalapa, presents: Sustainable Development Goals for Higher Education: Universidad Anáhuac Xalapa. Consul of Mexico in Omaha, Guadalupe Sánchez Salazar, will welcome guests and students to this special event.

Program Description: The 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development Goals is an initiative developed by the United Nations in 2015 as an urgent call for action by all countries to build a better world in time a huge global challenges. Universidad Anáhuac Xalapa presents a succesful model for international cooperation based on this agenda, where the efforts of universities and the private sector of Veracruz state may be the cornerstone of economic and social development projects in one of the most competitive zones in Mexico.

Speaker Biography

Omar Torres Fernández is the Dean of International Business and the Head of the International Education Office at Universidad Anáhuac Xalapa. He has a BA in Applied Linguistics, a MA in Education where he specialized in curriculum design. He studied a Masters Degree on Psychology Research applied to Education and he is currently a PhD candidate by Universidad Anáhuac Xalapa in a Humanities and Education Program. He has worked at Universidad Anáhuac Xalapa since 1999 as a leader in the international initiatives to consolidate a model for international education. He has networking experience in 16 countries and has achieved partnerships for all the academic programs at Universidad Anáhuac. He has been vice president of the International Business Comission at COPARMEX, Mexican Chamber of Commerce. He developed Innova Anahuac, High Impact Business Incubator, certified by the federal goverment in Mexico and he is currently leading 5 SMEs in Veracruz. He consolidated the first academic board of consultants for International Commerce in Veracruz with the participation of the Veracruz Port Community.
