The Testing Center is available to UNO students with disabilities who require testing accommodations that are approved as part of their UNO Accessibility Services Center (ASC) Accommodation Plan.

Student Information

You agreed with your professor that you will take your Accommodated Exam at the UNO Testing Center located in 522 Kayser Hall. You will need to register for a testing appointment via MavLINK. (Instructions provided below.)

Advanced Scheduling

Advanced scheduling is necessary for testing accommodations which are determined by referral from the ASC Director. Available accommodations include, but are not limited to:

  • A separate room
  • Reduced distraction space
  • Reader
  • Scribe
  • Word processor
  • Large print
  • Extended time
  • Job Access With Speech (JAWS)

Visit the Accessibility Services Center website for additional information.

The Testing Center works with ASC to provide a secure, quiet, and controlled environment for accommodated exam testing. Testing accommodations provided at the Testing Center are arranged in conjunction with the student, instructor(s), and ASC. Requests for changes to accommodation plans must be made and approved by the ASC Director or their designee before a test is administered.

Accommodated Testing Student Guidelines

  • Meet with your instructor(s) at the start of each term to verify they received your accommodation plan and review it with them.
  • Identify exam dates and testing formats in the syllabus.
  • Discuss each testing accommodation and explain any alternate format conversions that will be required.
  • Alternate format conversions should be requested as far in advance as possible to avoid delays in material availability.
  • If you or your instructor have questions about alternate format arrangements or need assistance converting exam content, contact ASC.
  • Testing accommodations must be part of your existing accommodation plan to be able to test at the Testing Cener. If you want to modify your plan, contact ASC.
  • Testing is done by appointment only.
  • Schedule an appointment via MavLink at least five (5)business days in advance of the exam date.
  • You will receive an auto-response email sent to your UNO email confirming the location, date, and time of your exam.
  • Appointment requests less than five (5) business days in advance of the exam may not guarantee the date and time requested.
  • Testing appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Schedule an exam as close as possible to the same day and time that the rest of the class will be taking the exam. Scheduling conflicts must be approved by the instructor.
  • It is strongly recommended that you schedule the entire semester’s exams in advance after discussing accommodations with your instructor(s).
  • To receive extended time as an accommodation, you must schedule your testing appointment so that you will receive your full time even if you think you will finish early.
  • Arrive on time for your exam. If you arrive late, you may not be allowed to test. (This is especially true during Midterm and Final Exam week.)
  • Present a valid photo ID. (ex. UNO MavCard or Driver License)
  • Store personal items in a locker during your exam.
  • Food and drink are not allowed in the testing room unless permitted by your testing accommodation plan.
  • To ensure no electronic devices are brought into the testing room, pockets will be inspected, and a metal detector device may be used.
  • Exam sessions are electronically monitored and recorded.
  • Notify the Testing Center in advance (if possible) to cancel a testing appointment.
  • Abide by the University’s policy on Academic Integrity. The Testing Center will report any acts of academic dishonesty.
  • Confirm your exam appointment and testing accommodations by calling the Testing Center at 402.554.4800 at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Ask if the testing materials have been delivered to the Testing Center.
  • Verify the precise start time for your exam.
