The House of Afros, Capes, and Curls brings a fun new perspective to the CEC.
Founded as a celebration of 'geek culture without ethnic boundaries,' Heike Langdon, the CEC's Manager of Possibilities says "The House creates a shared space for people with a love of gaming, science fiction, comics, media, and history. From virtual game nights and book clubs to history sleuthing and a Steampunk Tea Party, their goal of generating a sense of belonging for everyone makes them a natural partner for the CEC.
The local nonprofit organization "strives to increase representation for adults and youth of color, create programs that build community and create programming that generates a sense of belonging where the community as a whole can discuss pertinent and sensitive issues using science fiction, fantasy, comics, and games as a catalyst for conversation."
