OMAHA - The University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center (Weitz CEC) is excited to announce the new building partner organizations selected as part of the sixth round of space applications released.

Nine community and UNO organizations were selected to join the current organizations housed in the Weitz CEC.

New space application rounds consist of written applications and interviews with the Weitz CEC Building Advisory Committee. This committee is composed of community and university representatives. This committee makes the formal recommendations to senior leaders at UNO, for the final decision with each round.

Live Well Omaha

Live Well Omaha leads a coalition of organizations that are committed to prioritizing and improving conditions that impact the health of our community.

Metro Omaha Educational Consortium (MOEC)

The Metropolitan Omaha Educational Consortium (MOEC) is a collaborative organization dedicated to public education and bringing metropolitan area educators together.

Mode Shift Omaha

Mode Shift Omaha advocates for transportation options that enhance the quality of life and opportunities for everyone to live, work, and play.

Nonprofit Association of the Midlands (NAM)

Nonprofit Association of the Midlands (NAM) is the only membership organization in the state dedicated exclusively to working with nonprofits in the Midlands. By connecting organizations with information, education, advocacy, and collaboration, we help members focus their energy on the people and communities they serve.

Omaha Girls Rock

Through the powerful tool of musical experience and collaboration, Omaha Girls Rock cultivates strong values in female-identifying youth, developing confidence, self-reliance, and original thinking. By encouraging our female-identifying mentees to apply these principles in all aspects of their lives, we hope to help them grow into stronger and more valuable members of their community.

UNO Success Academy

The UNO Success Academy is a learning community aimed at supporting a select group of first-year students admitted by review at UNO. The Success Academy provides students with a foundation for future success through a wide-range of meaningful activities.

The Simple Foundation

The Simple Foundation is an organization that offers scholarships, volunteerism, and mentoring to underserved children and families. The Simple Foundation works together with other entities to provide a collective impact and support within low-income communities.

Tri-Faith Initiative

In working together, the Tri-Faith Initiative vision is to build bridges of respect, trust, and acceptance, to challenge stereotypes of each other, to learn from one another, and to counter the influence of extremists and agents of hate.

University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI)

The Munroe-Meyer Institute’s (MMI) mission is to lead the world in transforming the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families and communities through outreach, engagement, premier educational programs, innovative research and extraordinary patient care.

About the Weitz CEC

The Weitz CEC mission is to contribute positively and measurably to the community’s quality of life by creating, supporting, and expanding mutually beneficial partnerships, engaged scholarship, and academic and student programming that create tomorrow’s leaders and agents of change. As building partners housed in the Weitz CEC, these organizations will have access to UNO resources such as UNO’s nationally recognized Service Learning Academy, the Office of Civic and Social Responsibility, campus life, as well as nonprofit capacity building, state-of-the-art built-in technology and meeting spaces, and visitor parking.
