The University of Nebraska Omaha allows students the opportunity to gain academic credit for knowledge acquired by self-study or experience through credit by exam.
National credit by exam programs include the Advanced Placement (AP) Program, College Level Examination Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate (IB), DSST (formerly DANTES Subject Standardized Tests), and Cambridge International Exams.
Some UNO Departments offer credit or placement in advanced courses. Credit by Department may be awarded only to current students at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Contact the Testing Center for details.

Credit by Department
UNO’s Credit by Department procedure involves “challenging” one of the courses taught at this university by attempting a Departmental Examination. These examinations are constructed by the department for the purpose of measuring knowledge in a particular course being offered at UNO. Credit is granted for the course upon successful completion of the examination.
