Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving when individuals have the power to give back to organizations and communities that are meaningful to them. #GivingTuesday was founded in 2012 with a goal of inspiring people to support the causes they believe in. This year, Giving Tuesday is on Dec. 3, directly following Black Friday and Cyber Monday ― days when many people begin their holiday shopping. Those who wish to support causes related to UNO on Giving Tuesday have an opportunity to make a difference as well with a number of different giving options.
Culture of Caring Campaign: Maverick Food Pantry
Food insecurity is becoming more evident on college campuses, and UNO is no exception. The Maverick Food Pantry aims to contribute to UNO’s culture of caring by providing resources to those in immediate need and connecting them with resources for long-term support.
This fall, the NU Foundation hopes to raise $5,000 in support of the Maverick Food Pantry. This would give us the resources to provide our services through the end of the year, which often represents some of the most difficult months for food-insecure individuals.
Donate by visiting the NU Foundation campaign website.
The UNO Fund puts the power into your hands. Now, you make the choice how your donations are best spent at UNO. Through the UNO Fund, you can choose to directly support whatever you think is most important, including:
- Student scholarships that ease the cost of education for deserving UNO students.
- Faculty recruitment and retention to recruit the state’s best educators and produce the most cutting-edge research.
- Your college’s academic priorities, whether it be new courses, student support programs, special guest lectures or others.
- The most pressing needs of the university, immediately benefiting student goals and dreams.
- The UNO Alumni Association, which continues to produce award-winning alumni programming and communications for the benefit of UNO’s students
