For the first time in history, the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is offering a degree program internationally.
What’s new: UNO welcomed 33 students to the inaugural Ghana-based cohort of its Executive Master’s in Business Administration (EMBA) program through a new academic partnership with Radford University College (RUC) in Accra, Ghana.
Why it matters: The partnership, signed in July 2026, brings UNO’s EMBA program to working professional professionals in Ghana while expanding the university’s growing global reach.
- Both universities plan to explore additional academic programs, executive education, faculty collaboration, and other areas of mutual interest.
- The partnership also creates a bridge between Omaha and Ghana that could strengthen educational, business, and community connections between the two regions.
What they’re saying:
- Joanne Li, Ph.D., CFA, UNO Chancellor: “Part of our university’s mission is to bring the world to Omaha, and to bring Omaha to the world. Congratulations to Dr. Dhillon and the College of Business Administration for their leadership in making this historic milestone possible and opening the door to even more exciting opportunities ahead.”
- Phil He, Ph.D., UNO Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs: “Working professionals shouldn’t have to put their careers or lives on hold to continue their education. Our goal is to meet learners where they are by providing flexible educational opportunities that fit their needs while maintaining the quality they expect from UNO. Bringing the Executive MBA to Ghana is another way we can make that commitment real for learners wherever they are.”
- Gurpreet Dhillon, Ph.D., UNO College of Business Administration (CBA) Dean: “This partnership is about connecting Omaha and Accra so our students, faculty, institutions, and communities can learn from one another. As a metropolitan university, UNO can be deeply rooted our community while building relationships that extend our impact around the world.”
- Dr. Martin Luther Obeng, RUC President: “We are proud to be a part of this historic first cohort and celebrate a partnership that creates new opportunities for working professionals in Ghana. By bringing together the strengths of both institutions, we are creating a relationship built on shared learning, collaboration, and a commitment to developing leaders who can make an impact in their communities and beyond.”
What’s next: UNO’s EMBA program is built for working professionals ready to lead at the next level, equipping them with the skills and confidence to lead across the enterprise and navigate today’s fast-changing business environment.
