UNO Student Ambassadors

untitled-design-2.jpeg

"We bonded and became friends as we traveled around the Omaha Metro from the Old Market and the Henry Doorly Zoo all the way out west to Lincoln and the State Capitol Building. Working as a Student Ambassador was the best experience of my college career. I made connections with so many phenomenal people that I will continue to stay in touch with for the rest of my life (Garrett Connley, BOLD 2023 Student Ambassador)."

The UNO Student Ambassador Experience:

  • Work as a team with other student ambassadors to guide the participants through their experience while at UNO.
  • Serve as cultural interpreters and help participants understand what is expected of them as international visitors and representatives.
  • Show participants where and how to meet and network with other students, demonstrate how to interact, and engage with the community, and accompany participants on site visits, as well as cultural and recreational activities.
  • Be available to escort participants to grocery stores, community events, as well as American and ethnic restaurants.
  • Accompany participants to places of worship such as local mosques, temples, synagogues, and churches.

Student ambassadors will report directly to the Grants Project Coordinator, who will be available to address participant or student ambassador questions and concerns.

"This experience opened my eyes to the power of collaboration, cultural exchange, and potential for positive change. I’m grateful for the opportunity and the experience that has profoundly impacted my personal and professional growth. The friendships and the shared experience have left an indelible mark on my journey as a Student Ambassador (Emily Than, YSEALI 2023 Student Ambassador)."

*UNO will ensure that all program personnel are aware of the special dietary needs, cultural traditions, and religious practices of each of the participants.
