Concentration required provides students the opportunity to focus on one Area of Concentration.
Concentration not required provides students the opportunity to diversify their focus in three different subjects (Areas of Emphasis).
Concentration Required
University General Education Curriculum: (40 hours)
Includes nine hours of English composition and writing, Intermediate Algebra or equivalent, three hours of public speaking, seven hours of natural and physical sciences (one course with a lab), nine hours of humanities and fine arts, nine hours of social and behavioral sciences, and six hours of cultural diversity. Click here to go to the General Education Approved Courses list. All course work applied towards University General Education Curriculum and Concentration Requirements require a minimum grade of C-.
Area of Concentration: (30 hours minimum)

Secondary Field I: (12 hours)
Secondary Field II: (12 hours)
Each secondary field must be include 12 hours from the same subject.
Electives: (26 hours)
Electives may include any excess credit in general education, concentration or secondary fields. The number of elective hours may vary, but total degree must comprise 120 hours.
Total Degree: (120 hours minimum)

Area of Emphasis III: (15 hours)
The 15 hours in each Area of Emphasis must be from the same subject. Six hours in two of the Areas of Emphasis (12 total hours) must be upper division 3000-4000 from UNO.
