Master of Music in Conducting

  1. Complete the online application to the University of Nebraska at Omaha. There is a non-refundable application fee. Unofficial transcripts and test scores are now accepted along with all other requirements for graduate admission, and can be uploaded within the application. For further directions on how to upload, and what is accepted, please review the guidelines below.
    1. Domestic Graduate Student Guidelines
    2. International Graduate Student Guidelines
      1. Submitted documents should include individual transcripts/mark sheets and degree certifications as certified by the issuing institution in the original language, along with English translations.
        1. International Transcripts: Effective 12:00 A.M. CST on August 1, 2018, applicants who have completed any undergraduate or graduate coursework at an international higher education institution are required to submit a course-by-course transcript evaluation from World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), or Educational Perspectives.
  2. Apply for financial aid and/or scholarships. Click the link to find the steps to apply for financial aid and to stay on track to receive funds.
    1. Review the Financial Support and Scholarships page for more information, including specific graduate funding opportunities.
    2. Click here for information about Graduate Assistantships in the School of Music.
  3. Schedule your School of Music Audition.
    1. Choral Conducting: Applicants interested in studying Choral Conducting should email audition video footage to the Dr. Richard Carrillo, Director of Choral Activities. (RichardCarrillo@unomaha.edu.)
      • Video footage should demonstrate 10-15 minutes of rehearsal and 10-15 minutes of performance.
      • The camera should face the conductor so the committee can easily see the conductor's gesture and face.
      • The repertoire in the performance does not need to be the same as that of the rehearsal.
      • Finalists for the Assistantship Position will be notified in early January of their invitation for an in-person audition and will be given a list of pieces to prepare at that time.
    2. Orchestral Conducting: Applicants interested in studying Orchestral Conducting should contact Dr. Matthew Brooks, Director of Orchestral Activites in Music and Medicine at matthewbrooks@unomaha.edu.
    3. Wind Conducting: Applicants interested in studying Wind Conducting should contact Dr. Joshua Kearney, Director of Bands at jskearney@unomaha.edu.
