Woodwind Festival

Open to students in grades 7-12, the 2024 UNO Woodwind Festival will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024! The event is free for all participants.

  • Open parking on campus all day/evening
  • ADA accessible parking can be found in Lot E (just west of Strauss) at the Community Engagement Center. Accessible entrances may be found at the at the southwest and northeast sides of the building.

Flute Festival | schedule

The 3rd annual UNO Flute Festival will take place at the Strauss Performing Arts Center, featuring Dr. Christine Beard & guest flutist, Madison Booth. Open to flutists of all ages and experience levels, high school students can take part in the All-State Mock Auditions for comments, feedback, and practice strategies.

The day will be filled with informative flute clinics, workshops, and dazzling performances, as well as a flute choir reading session with alto, bass and contrabass flutes in the mix. The "flute marketplace" will feature vendors from across the USA with flutes, piccolos, and accessories for every price point with brands not available anywhere else in Nebraska.

Simultaneously held in conjunction with the inaugural UNO Clarinet, Double Reed, and Saxophone Days, there is something for everyone; don't miss this amazing opportunity to improve, listen, learn, and experience an incredible day of everything FLUTE!

The inaugural UNO Clarinet Day will take place at the Strauss Performing Arts Center. Open to clarinetists of all ages and experience levels, high school students can take part in the All-State Mock Auditions for comments, feedback, and practice strategies.

The day will be filled with informative clarinet clinics, workshops, and student performances, as well as a clarinet chamber music reading session. Thompson Music will have a variety of clarinets and accessories available to peruse throughout the day.

Simultaneously held in conjunction with the inaugural UNO Saxophone Day, Double Reed Day, and 3rd annual Flute Festival, there is something for everyone; don't miss this amazing opportunity to improve, listen, and learn!

2024 SWE WoodwindsWoodwinds at UNO

In the Woodwind Area, students have the opportunity to study with experienced teachers that maintain careers as active professional musicians.

UNO woodwind teachers have varied backgrounds including extensive experience in symphony orchestras, jazz, chamber music, and other professional groups. In addition to private lessons, students participate in a weekly masterclass presented by UNO faculty or guest artists.
