UNO Names Sharon Larsen Employee of the Month, March 2023

Sharon Larsen, Reservations Manager for the University of Nebraska at Omaha, has been named UNO Employee of the Month for March 2023.

She was nominated by her colleagues because of her ability to make every event she helps reserve and facilitate an amazing experience because of her ability to see potential for an event, with even limited information.

“I have gone to Sharon with only a general email with a vague idea for a dinner, and she can come up with multiple designs that we could consider,” one nominator said. In addition to her ability to work from minimal information, she is also adept at helping refine potentially overcomplicated ideas into an excellent space that will amplify the event experience.

“Sharon listens to what you want, offers suggestions if she has seen something else work better in the space, and talks through everything to make sure everyone is happy.”

This has earned Larsen a great reputation as somebody who knows right where to turn. “Colleagues who I direct to Sharon always say how amazing she is to work with. Her extensive historical knowledge of UNO is extremely helpful when trying to figure out who to contact. She always just knows right where to turn.”

And those who have worked with her know she is reliable when last-minute changes are needed. “I’ve had to call her only hours before a 300-person event to change a room’s setup and she was all over it, even making sure all the teams involved had the updated plan.”

Larsen is regularly right there in the room making sure everything is just right for every event, every time.

For being named as Employee of the Month, Larsen will receive a certificate, a hot/cold tumbler provided by the UNO Bookstore, a monetary award, two tickets to a UNO sporting event, and use of a designated parking space.
