About the UNO Bands

Founded in 1928, the UNO Bands are among the most visible and celebrated organizations in the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. For nearly a century, the program has provided students from all majors and backgrounds with transformative musical experiences from the concert hall to the athletic arena. The UNO Bands encompass two concert ensembles, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the University Band, the UNO "Maverick Machine" Pep Band, and the newest addition to the UNO Band Program—the Maverick Winter Guard. All ensembles are committed to performing literature of the highest caliber, offering students the opportunity to grow as musicians, performers, and leaders in a challenging and supportive environment.

Whether performing on the concert hall stage or energizing fans in exciting athletic environments, UNO Bands students develop skills and forge memories that last a lifetime. The program's rich tradition of excellence continues to attract passionate student musicians who are eager to contribute to the soundtrack of the college experience and the Omaha community.

Upcoming concerts and events can be found at the UNO School of Music Concerts & Events page, and for those unable to attend in person, many performances are available via livestream on the UNO School of Music YouTube channel. Your support helps ensure that this storied program continues to thrive for generations of students to come.

James and Cheryl Saker Symphonic Wind Ensemble Leadership Scholarship

The James and Cheryl Saker Symphonic Wind Ensemble Leadership Scholarship provides meaningful financial support to UNO Bands students who demonstrate outstanding leadership within the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
