Hosted by the UNO Bands, the 7th Annual UNO Conducting Workshop will take place on Thursday, May 29, 2025.

Update: Professional/graduate conducting spots have filled. Any registration for the these spots will automatically be added the waiting list. Waiting list participants will be contacted after Apr. 1 in the order their applications were received.

The UNO Band Conducting Workshop is open to conductors of all levels including teachers, undergraduate/graduate students, community band directors, etc. The ensemble will comprise observers/conducting participants (bring your instrument!), UNO student volunteers, and members of the Nebraska Wind Symphony.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. We can accept a maximum of 20 conducting participants and an unlimited number of observers. Please note that 5 of the 20 conducting slots are reserved for current/recent undergraduate students until April 1. At that time, conductors on the Professional Track waiting list will be contacted in the order they expressed interest.

A special Undergraduate Conducting Track is being offered at a discounted rate. Students in the Undergraduate Track will receive supplemental private instruction following each conducting experience and a professional development session designed specifically for them.

The application for the UNO Bands Conducting Workshop will open at 9am CT on February 3, 2025.

  • Professional/Graduate Conductor Track: $60 (FULL - WAITING LIST ONLY)
  • Undergraduate Conductor Track: $45; for current or newly-graduated undergraduate music majors (FULL - WAITING LIST ONLY)
  • Observer Track: $35

It will be wonderful to have you on campus for this event! You may apply as a conductor or an observer. Applications for conductors are limited to the first 20 participants and are accepted on a first-come first served basis. There are an unlimited number of observer spots available.

Applicants will be notified of their status (accepted vs. waiting list) by April 1. At that time, a payment link will be sent to accepted participants. Please contact Dr. Kearney if an invoice is required for payment: jskearney@unomaha.edu.

The single day UNO Bands conducting workshop will run approximately 8am-5:30pm CT. A more detailed schedule will be released at a later date.

Conducting round 1 (CH)

Lunch on own until 1:00pm

Dr. Sedatole presentation (RH)

2:00pm

Conducting round 2 (CH)

Undergraduate track participants attend presentation by Prof. Ann Davis in RH until 2:45pm. Afterwards, report to CH.

5:20pm

Group photo and round 2 conclusion (CH)

5:35pm

Closing discussions, Q&A (RH)

~6:00pm
