UNO in the news: Researchers from UNO’s National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center (NCITE) were featured on a Fox News Fox & Friends segment, sharing their expertise on the dangers of uncensored AI models with lawmakers in Washington, D.C.
Why it matters: “Jailbroken” AI models are similar to other AI systems but lack the guardrails that prevent dangerous activities. As these systems and threats grow, lawmakers and researchers work diligently to develop policies.
Zoom in: The session was led by Sam Hunter, Ph.D., senior scientist and director of academic research and Joel Elson, Ph.D., director of information science & technology research initiatives. Together with their team, they shared expertise and research on the threats of this technology and its potential impact on the future use of artificial intelligence.
