David Taylor, Grounds Leader for UNO’s Landscape Services, was recently recognized as UNO’s February 2023 Employee of the Month

David Taylor, the Grounds Leader for the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Landscape Services, has been named UNO Employee of the Month for February 2023.

Taylor’s impact on the university experience can be seen in every corner of UNO. From managing the roads and sidewalks of our campus amid the often-unpredictable snow and ice of a Midwest winter, to helping ensure that our Pep Bowl is truly one of the best-looking green spaces in the city, Taylor is busy throughout the year.

“The grounds always look fantastic on campus and David plays a great part in that. David has always gone above his job expectations. If my lawn looked as good as UNO’s, I’d be the talk of the neighborhood!”

In addition to ensuring UNO is a beautiful place for the Maverick community, Taylor was also celebrated for his patience and consideration for the foot traffic as students, faculty, and staff pass by him while working.

“What makes David stand out is his friendliness. He is very conscientious and if his equipment gets close to walking traffic, he always pauses and greets people as they pass.”

David’s work is a great reminder that every Maverick, doing their part, builds a greater experience for all. “The truth is, David is not just there mowing grass or doing landscaping. He sees the bigger picture – that it is about the people on campus, and the impact of his work gives them a great experience, so they feel welcome. David and his work are a HUGE asset to UNO.”

For being named as Employee of the Month, Taylor will receive a certificate, a hot/cold tumbler provided by the UNO Bookstore, a monetary award, two tickets to a UNO sporting event, and use of a designated parking space.

Congratulations, David!

David Taylor receives the Employee of the Month Award from Steve Kerrigan
