Tom was the Assistant Director of Audio Visual Services for 32 years, from December 1966 to his retirement in September 1999.

He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Patricia (Chleborad); children, James and Jennifer Opocensky (Mike); grandchildren Kifton, Treyton and Melaynee; great-grandson Felix; siblings Kevin Ryan (Donna), Buckeye, AZ, and Mary Novotny (Tim), Wellington, CO; sister-in-law Sharon Shannon (Bill), Emmett, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Beatrice Ryan, brothers Michael and Rev. Steven, and sister Mona.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler West Center Chapel. A mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Elizabeth Ann Catholic Church.

The thoughts and condolences of the university community are with Tom's loved ones during this time.
