Welcome to Omaha, Nebraska! As you get settled, it is important to complete the necessary steps to begin your UNO program and learn about resources available to help you transition smoothly.

Before Classes Begin

All new international students, including those transferring from another U.S. school and those moving from ILUNO to UNO must report their arrival and attend international student orientation.

  • Report Your Arrival
  • Attend International Orientation

Remember to Check Your UNO Email

During your first few weeks, remember to check your UNO email regularly for updates and important UNO information. All enrolled students are given a UNO email account and access to the Microsoft 365 (MS365) software suite.

  • Log in using your NetID and password on Microsoft's homepage to use your MS365 account.
  • This includes your student email, calendar, and MS365 applications such as OneDrive and Microsoft Office.

Remember, International Advising is here to answer your questions and is available by email, phone and appointment.

Complete or Show Proof of MMR Immunization

All students, including international students and scholars, ILUNO and IPD students, must provide immunization records in English from a doctor or hospital showing two Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) shots or a measles titer report from a laboratory or doctor showing you are immune.

If you do not bring these immunization records signed by your home country physician, you must have the first MMR immunization dose immediately upon arrival. The second dose must be given 30 days later. The on-campus Nebraska Medicine UNO Health Center can administer the doses.

Schedule Tuberculosis Screening

All international students must also complete tuberculosis (TB) screening at the Nebraska Medicine UNO Health Center upon arrival.

Call 402.554.2374 to schedule an MMR Immunization and TB testing appointment at the Nebraska Medicine UNO Health Center.

Get Your MavCARD

Your MavCARD gives you access to UNO’s parking garages, allows you to check out items from the library, purchase food or copy services, and receive student discounts.
