About the Nebraska Municipal Clerks Institute and Academy

The Nebraska Municipal Clerks Institute and Academy is an annual continuing education professional seminar held in Nebraska during March of each year for municipal clerks in Nebraska.

This training program was initiated in 1976 by the, then, Department of Public Administration at the University of Nebraska Omaha, in conjunction with the League of Nebraska Municipalities and the Nebraska Municipal Clerks' Association section of the League of Nebraska Municipalities.

The UNO School of Public Administration is responsible for operating the Institute. The Institute is accredited by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and endorsed by the League of Nebraska Municipalities.

Scholarship Opportunities & Potential Sponsors:

Thanks to the generous donations from our sponsors, scholarships are now available for those attending the conference up to four years. The completed scholarship form should be sent by November 1st to First Vice President, Derek Bargmann at Derek.Bargmann@cityofsewardne.gov. scholarships will be awarded by December 31st, and you will be notified if you have been awarded a scholarship. Please remember that to qualify for a scholarship, your annual dues to NMCA must be current.

Amounts awarded are as follows--scholarships to those attending Academy have been discontinued in favor of those that have attended less years. As a reminder, there are only finite funds for scholarships so applications will be considered based on the amount of funds available:

1st Year Attendee: Full Cost of Conference Scholarship

2nd Year Attendee: $250

3rd and 4th Year Attendee: $100

Do you know of a potential sponsor as well? Please share this with any potential sponsors.

2026 NE Municipal Clerks Institute & Academy

Registration for the conference will be opening on November 1st at the link above for UNO. So go ahead and make your hotel reservations for the conference, just don’t register for the conference yet if you applied for a scholarship. The early bird rate for the conference is good until the end of February, so you have plenty of time to register. After you hear if you have received a scholarship, please register for the conference. As you register, there is an option to mark that you do have a scholarship, follow the prompts and the scholarship amount will be deducted from the registration cost total at the end. If you are a first-year clerk and receive a scholarship for the full registration cost, you still need to register for the conference so you can be included in the total number of clerks attending the conference which helps us plan.
