National honors recognize CEHHS faculty leadership in human movement and health
Recent CEHHS fellowship recognitions continue the college's tradition of national leadership in biomechanics, kinesiology, and health-related research.

Adam B. Rosen, Ph.D., ATC, FNATA, Danae Dinkel, Ph.D., and Sara Myers, Ph.D., recently received national fellowship honors for research expertise as well as leadership and service in fields that advance understanding of human movement, health and well-being.
Adam B. Rosen, Ph.D., ATC, FNATA, works to expand opportunities for students interested in health professions through education, mentorship, and community partnerships. As director of the School of Health and Kinesiology, he continues to prepare future health professionals while advancing research in athletic training and sports medicine.
Danae Dinkel, Ph.D., leads the Developmental Movement and Wellbeing Research Group, where she works with children, families, and communities to promote healthy movement habits beginning in early childhood. Her research explores how physical activity supports lifelong health and development.
Sara Myers, Ph.D., earned her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from UNO before joining the biomechanics faculty. Today, she serves as UNO's associate vice chancellor for research and creative activity while continuing to advance biomechanics research and mentor the next generation of researchers.
Three leaders from the University of Nebraska at Omaha's College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS) have recently earned fellowship recognitions from national professional organizations for their contributions to research, education, and service. Representing the School of Health and Kinesiology and the Division of Biomechanics and Research Development, these faculty members advance work in biomechanics, health promotion, sports science, athletic training, and behavioral medicine that supports students, communities, and their respective fields.
Adam Rosen, Ph.D., ATC, FNATA, named Fellow of the National Athletic Trainers' Association
Adam B. Rosen, Ph.D., ATC, FNATA, director of the School of Health and Kinesiology, has been named a Fellow of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
NATA Fellow status recognizes members who have demonstrated sustained scholarly achievement and leadership in advancing research, scholarship and professional education within athletic training. The distinction honors accomplished scholars whose work has significantly advanced the athletic training profession.
“Being named a Fellow of the National Athletic Trainers' Association is an incredible honor and one that is especially meaningful because it reflects a commitment to advancing athletic training through research and education. I have been fortunate to work alongside exceptional students, faculty colleagues, mentors, and collaborators, and this recognition is as much a reflection of their contributions as it is my own. I am especially proud to represent UNO's School of Health & Kinesiology and Athletic Training Program, where we are committed to conducting meaningful research, mentoring future clinicians and scholars, and helping shape the future of the athletic training profession.”
Danae Dinkel, Ph.D., named Fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine
Danae Dinkel, Ph.D., professor in the School of Health and Kinesiology, has been named a Fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM).
SBM Fellow status recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions to advancing the science and practice of behavioral medicine through research, teaching, practice and leadership. Fellows also serve as mentors and role models while helping advance the Society's mission.
"I'm honored to be recognized by the Society of Behavioral Medicine. This fellowship reflects the collective efforts of the students, collaborators, and community partners I've had the privilege to work alongside at UNO, all of whom share a commitment to improving the health and well-being of children and families through research that can be applied in real-world settings while providing students with meaningful research and mentorship opportunities."
Sara Myers, Ph.D., named Fellow of the American Society of Biomechanics
Sara A. Myers, Ph.D., vice chancellor for research and creative activity and professor of biomechanics, has been named a 2026 Fellow of the American Society of Biomechanics (ASB).
ASB Fellow status is awarded to select members in recognition of exceptional scientific and professional achievement in biomechanics, outstanding service to the Society and continued leadership within the profession.
"The American Society of Biomechanics has been my home and primary professional organization since 2006. I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of leadership roles throughout my career. I have benefitted from mentorship and professional development programs sponsored by the Society. It is a great honor to be recognized by the American Society of Biomechanics."
These fellowship recognitions continue CEHHS's tradition of national leadership in biomechanics, kinesiology, and sports- and health-related research. Recent honors also include Alexey Kamenskiy, Ph.D., who was inducted into the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows, and Nikolaos "Nick" Stergiou, Ph.D., who was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Together, these recognitions reflect the continued national impact of CEHHS faculty and the college's commitment to advancing research, education, and professional leadership.
