Mission

The Department of Political Science at UNO stresses its instructional mission, while strongly fulfilling its research and service obligations. Our instructors have received Excellence in Teaching Awards, published books and articles, and regularly share their professional knowledge with the community.

Our award winning faculty is here to provide you with courses leading to Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or Master of Science degrees.

Our faculty specialize in a variety of areas including: American government, European politics, Latin American politics, East Asian politics, Middle East politics, Islam and politics, gender and politics, Intelligence and national security, US foreign policy, political theory, Constitutional law, environmental security, authoritarian regimes, conflict resolution and methodology.

Courses are designed to introduce you to the political ideas and events that have shaped our world and to train you to think critically about issues pertinent to our interdependent world. Our program is designed to prepare you for a variety of careers including: academia, law, journalism, government, non-profit organizations, international organizations, research, education and business.
