Why Minor in Political Science?

As a complement to a major in a different discipline, the Political Science minor helps you become an effective and politically active citizen and leader. You'll learn to process the endless flow of ideas, rhetoric and data that are an inescapable feature of the information age. By polishing valuable skills in analysis, communication, research, and writing, political science classes challenge students to think independently, with an informed awareness of current affairs and tolerance for other points of view.

Our minor can be particularly relevant for students majoring in:

  • Latino/Latin American Studies
  • Communications
  • Criminal Justice
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • History
  • Philosophy
  • Sociology
  • Social Work
  • Spanish
  • Teacher Education

Political Science Minor Requirements:

An undergraduate minor in political science may be secured by completing 18 hours of political science, 12 of which must be at the 3000 to 4000 level. All of these courses must be completed with a grade of “C-” or better.

For more information, see the Course Catalog.

Why Choose an Arts and Sciences Minor?

Many students with majors from outside our college often find the minors available in Arts and Sciences exciting and engaging. A minor is a great way to explore a discipline you're curious about, while also adding breadth to your education.
