If financial aid is important to you, pay special attention to deadlines. The earlier you apply, the better. The University of Nebraska at Omaha is happy to answer your questions. Here are some key dates to keep in mind if you are a first-year or currently enrolled student.

DATE DESCRIPTION
October 1

This is the earliest date a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or Renewal FAFSA can be submitted to the processor for the upcoming year. The FAFSA is the starting point for almost all financial aid, so make sure to submit yours at StudentAid.gov. More Information

January Spring semester classes begin. Disbursement of financial aid begins approximately one week before classes begin. Refunds are issued after the student account is credited with the financial aid disbursement.
February 1

First-Year students must apply for admission by this date to be considered for our base merit scholarships. Most other scholarships awarded at UNO require completion of the General Scholarship application.

March 1 For current or transfer students to be considered for most UNO or NU Foundation scholarships, please submit the UNO Scholarship Application via MavLINK.
March

Complete the Summer Aid Application on MavLINK after enrolling in Summer courses. More Information

Students who are eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant according to the expected family contribution (EFC) calculated on the FAFSA may be eligible to receive Federal Pell Grant funds during the Summer term. The amount awarded will be prorated based on enrollment, not to exceed 50% of the maximum amount listed on your Student Aid Report (SAR).

Students who have attended full-time during Fall and Spring must be enrolled at least half-time for Summer to be considered for Federal Pell Grant funds. The amount awarded will count towards the student's Pell Lifetime Eligibility Used (maximum lifetime limit).

April 1 FAFSA must be received by the Federal Student Aid Processor by this date to receive priority consideration for financial aid for the upcoming academic year. (extended for 2020-2021 to May 1)
April through June

During this time you can expect to receive award notification if you sent your FAFSA in by the priority date (April 1).

June 1 is the priority date to have verification documents turned in for CollegeBound Nebraska eligibility. (extended for 2020-2021 to July 1)

March through August Use this time to respond to any questions or requests for documentation from the UNO Office of Financial Support and Scholarships.
September 1 The UNO Scholarship Application is available to complete for the following school year via MavLINK.
