Through dedicated efforts from both senior academic leaders and the UNO AAUP, an agreement has been reached that will increase the base salary for 46 full-time Instructors and Lecturers from across all of the colleges. The adjustments aim to address crucial issues related to faculty retention, particularly among instructional faculty, who often face financial challenges as the lowest-paid full-time faculty members.

Senior Vice Chancellor Phil He and UNO AAUP President Laura Grams extend their gratitude to the UNO AAUP and college Deans who worked with Academic Affairs to prioritize support for and retention of UNO’s instructional faculty.

I would like to express my appreciation for the commitment Senior Vice Chancellor Phil He and Assistant Vice Chancellor Candice Batton have demonstrated, which was vital to ensuring this positive outcome. In reaching this milestone agreement in support of instructional faculty, the UNO AAUP and UNO administration have been able to accomplish a meaningful, long-sought objective together.

 Laura Grams, President, UNO AAUP

Good things come when we work together. This achievement underscores the value of cooperation and collective efforts in addressing the needs and concerns of our faculty. Through collaborative efforts, we are making meaningful strides toward enhancing the well-being and satisfaction of our faculty community.

I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the UNO AAUP for their unwavering commitment and responsiveness to concerns about instructional faculty compensation. I am also deeply appreciative of the deans, who played a pivotal role in advancing this initiative.

Phil He, Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
