Collin Bailey
- College of Business Administration Senator
Additional Information
Why are you running for Student Government?
The main reason I want to run for student government is to speak on behalf of the College of Business Administration and for my fellow students. I have loved UNO and the CBA since the moment I arrived on campus as a freshman and I believe I have the ability to represent my college on behalf of the other students at the school.
I am confident in my ability to speak up for what I believe in and I am willing to work with other like-minded individuals who want to improve the experience for students at UNO. I have always been interested in student government and feel like now is the right time to throw my name into the hat. I believe that qualities such as friendship, character, education, and excellence are some of the qualities I have gained from being a part of other student organizations at UNO and as a part of the CBA family. I want to give back through my service as a College of Business Administration Senator.
Which issue do think should be changed or improved on campus?
I think an issue that should be changed or improved on campus is the lack of student interest/attendance at UNO sponsored events. I believe that a Division One school like UNO has the potential to truly transition from being known as a commuter school to one that brings in students who know and understand the passion our students are capable of.
I would love nothing more than to see the stands filled at our sporting events, more students involved in clubs/organizations, and more students who want to be part of something bigger than themselves. I truly believe we have the right people for the job and now is the time to make our mark! We have students who are intellectual, passionate, diverse, and people of character who want are ready to make the difference.
What makes you qualified to sit on Student Government?
I am qualified to sit on Student Government as a CBA Senator because of my previous and current leadership positions on campus, my outgoing and passionate character, and my knowledge of students and faculty at the CBA. I am currently an Accounting Student at the CBA and I work as a Tax Intern at HBE LLP (a Nebraska-based accounting firm).
I have completed my CBA general education requirements, am a junior on credit, and have an array of relationships with professors and other instructors of many different business fields at the College of Business. I am one of the Founding Fathers of the Delta Chi Fraternity here at UNO and was the founding Treasurer. Currently I am the elected President of the organization and have experience working under stress and managing a group of 50 college men.
My variety of coursework as well as being a part of Greek Life has allowed me to develop relationships with people inside and outside the College of Business. I believe these relationships and experiences have developed me into a man of character and responsibility, and I want to work to promote, develop, advance, and assist the Student Government at UNO by representing the College of Business Administration as a senator.
