️➡️ What’s new: University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Chancellor Joanne Li, Ph.D., CFA, and Student Body President and Student Regent Drew Leisy led a delegation of UNO students, faculty, and staff at the University of Nebraska System’s annual “I Love NU” Advocacy Day in Lincoln.
💡 Why it matters: “I Love NU” Advocacy Day connects the university community directly with state senators and policymakers. For UNO, those conversations help advance priorities tied to student success, workforce development, and community engagement.
🔎 Zoom in: The systemwide event began at the Cornhusker Hotel and concluded at the Nebraska State Capitol, bringing together advocates from all four NU campuses to celebrate and support the university’s impact across the state.
- The day kicked off with welcome and check-in activities, followed by hands-on civic engagement opportunities in partnership with Civic Nebraska, including letter writing to senators, voter registration, and advocacy outreach.
- After lunch and remarks from NU leadership and invited guests, participants walked to the Capitol for a group photo and legislative recognition from the balcony. Attendees then met with state senators and legislative staff.
