UNO’s Maverick Store to Transition to Barnes & Noble College Management
Beginning April 26, BNC will offer a new suite of programs and services to support academic success as well as an expanded assortment of merchandise and retail experiences.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and the University of Nebraska Medical Center are pleased to announce that beginning April 2026, Barnes & Noble College (BNC) will manage all course materials, retail and online operations for the Maverick Store, UNMC Bookstore, and UNMC Sorrell Center convenience store.
Through this new partnership, BNC will offer a suite of innovative programs and services that will support academic success for students and faculty and deliver an expanded merchandise assortment and an engaging retail experience.
“This partnership allows us to elevate the on-campus experience for our students in a really meaningful way,” UNO Auxiliary Services Director Denise Kjeldgaard said. “By working with one of the most trusted names in college course materials and campus retail, we’re ensuring our students have access to affordable learning resources, high-quality merchandise and a modern, engaging retail experience that supports their success both inside and outside the classroom.”
As academic hubs on their respective campuses, the Maverick Store and UNMC Bookstore will ensure students and faculty are supported with everything they need to succeed. This includes the industry’s largest inventory of affordable physical and digital course materials backed by a price match program and convenient options for ordering and receiving materials such as in-store, pick-up, or delivery.
BNC will also provide UNO and UNMC with the broadest range of quality low-cost course material selections and learning solutions to ensure students have everything they need to succeed academically.
In addition, faculty will gain access to the market-leading BNC Adoption & Insights Portal (AIP), which will allow faculty to easily research and submit affordable course material selections, further driving faculty choice and student success.
The Maverick Store and UNMC Bookstore will also offer an expanded assortment of apparel, gifts, school supplies and more. And through its strategic alliance with Fanatics and Lids, BNC will deliver an unparalleled, best-in-class assortment of school apparel and an exceptional retail experience to the UNO and UNMC communities.
Merchandise will be available both in-store and online through the website, delivered with a dynamic and personalized experience.
Additional Note: Prior to this transition, the campus community is encouraged to visit the campus bookstores to take advantage of a large inventory sale currently underway. This sale will continue while supplies last and offers an opportunity to purchase remaining inventory.
