UNO Names Rosey Higgs Employee of the Month, September 2025

Rosey Higgs, associate director of the Service Learning Academy, has been named the University of Nebraska at Omaha's (UNO) Employee of the Month for September 2025. She was praised for her ability to foster a positive work environment and guide her team with compassion and integrity.

A nominator said that "Rosey is a joy to work with. Her authentic leadership creates a work environment where team members feel seen, supported, and valued. She models kindness, professionalism, and open communication, and her ability to consider all perspectives before making decisions is a testament to her integrity. Whether a conversation is work-related or personal, she creates a space where others feel safe and never judged."

This dedication is especially evident in her leadership on key initiatives and events.

"The Service Learning Seminar is the largest and most impactful event our team hosts each year. Rosey led the planning and execution of this weeklong event with exceptional skill, foresight, and leadership. Her thoughtful preparation and calm, solutions-oriented approach ensured the team was supported every step of the way. At every moment, Rosey approached challenges with patience, creativity, and a positive attitude always with a smile on her face," they added.

Her colleagues emphasized that this same steady leadership and care extend across the entire Office of Engagement.

"The work we do in the Office of Engagement simply wouldn’t be possible without Rosey. She is the foundation of our team's success and the heart of our service to campus and community. Rosey is more than deserving of the Employee of the Month recognition. She exemplifies everything great leadership should be. We are deeply grateful for her dedication and care."

For being named as Employee of the Month, Higgs received a certificate, a hot/cold tumbler provided by The Maverick Store, a monetary award, two tickets to a UNO sporting event, and use of a designated parking space.
